The Hononegah school district is known for receiving many academic awards including being listed in the top 40 schools in the state of Illinois, for the 2005-2006 school year. Hononegah football and basketball games are major draws for spectators in the north Winnebago area, often bringing in thousands of spectators to cheer on the Indians, who are named for Hononegah, the wife of Stephen Mack. |
